The course focuses on techniques and tools development for mobile or tablet Learning with the use of Digital Technologies in Museums, Science Centres and Galleries and modernizes outdoor education. The course demonstrates how to transfer teaching and learning outdoors, to rural or urban locations, but at the same time retain many of the classroom resources in your pocket. Many useful applications will be presented with emphasis on teaching students inside archaeological sites and museums in Greece, while making use of Ancient History and monuments of great importance. Trainee-educators will be able to further develop their own scenarios based on their country’s specific educational curricula covering a number of disciplines ranging from technology to art. Furthermore, trainee-educators will be able to build an up-to-date professional identity and subsequently teach their students through novel collaborative and creative practices.
The course presents current teaching methodologies which incorporate Digital Technologies for class sessions that take place in Museums, Science Centres and Galleries. Trainee-educators will enrich their knowledge on up-to-date technologies which attract learners’ interest, increase their motivation and maximise their performance since improved learning results stem from active engagement and personal experience. Our expert trainers aim at enhancing participants’ active engagement in this hands-on training course, which also includes methodologies for preparing effective digital teaching materials to be used every day in class. Our trainers will ensure that participants develop a deeper understanding of the potential role of digital technologies in teaching and thus assist trainees in developing a novel lifelong training mentality in our digital world; the key to a successful teaching career.
Teaching outside the classroom; in an urban, rural, local, national and European context. The educational material is based on landscape interpretation, outdoor experiential education and mobile technology, and is provided free of charge to all trainees in the form of a practical implementation textbook-manual. Our aim is to equip learners with teaching tools which will strengthen their European cultural identity. Our objective is to train a body of professional educators from different disciplines, providing them with competence and the necessary skills for producing and using mobile learning materials in outdoor education.
