Description

STEAM is the acronym that stands for five academic disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. Rather than teach each area separately, STEAM education integrates these disciplines for use in real-life applications. The course focuses on enriching STEAM secondary education curriculum through innovative activities for students, expanding available learning and teaching resources as well as enriching educators’ skills in engaging and motivating their students. This course is a training course which aims to support school staff with a new and innovative teaching methodologies widely accepted by the education community. Our flexible and collaborative courses are created by experienced educators who are leading experts in their field. Whether you are newly qualified, an experienced teacher or a STEAM Ambassador, we’ll help you engage, inspire and enhance the learning of your students. We’ll support in reflecting on your current practices and how to modify them, taking what you have learned back home and into the classroom. At the end of the course, participants receive an “INNOTOMIA Education STEAM Training Certificate” which certifies the acquisition of new pedagogical and didactical approaches based on the educational principles of STEAM in education.

Approach

The course combines theoretical input and discussion on the principles of STEAM, along with the analysis of case studies so that participants contemplate on different possible solutions. The methodology used is mainly Content-Based Language Instruction (communication through specific content), whereas some of the strategies more frequently used are text discussion, oral presentation and discussion, role-playing, self- and meta-reflection, debating and group interaction, etc. The course includes technical study visits to local private and public organizations, meetings with local professionals to exchange good practices, job shadowing experiences, workshops to introduce new ideas.

Learning Outcomes

Gain expertise on training techniques to develop striking projects based on STEAM, learn about the state of the art tools and how to set up an effective and safe STEAM laboratory. Trainee-educators can subsequently use newly acquired techniques to attract their student’s interest, motivate them and maximize their performance. Furthermore, participants will learn how to develop a school educational plan on Coding and Robotics in an effective, innovative way; structure learning objectives based on STEAM; discover ways to motivate their students in coding and creating their own robots within the scope of projected based learning. The course highlights the importance of team dynamics, creativity and innovative thinking. Finally, trainee-educators will expand their ICT skills and make use of various Web 2.0 Technology tools and programmes as well as adapt new and innovative tools and methods to their own teaching needs and contexts. The educational material is based on successful innovative techniques of STEAM and is provided free of charge to all trainees in the form of a practical textbook-manual. Our aim is to equip learners with tools which will promote STEAM knowledge in the contemporary European school.

DAY 5

Cultural Programm.

In the northwestern part of Peloponnese, the city of Patras is the capital of the region and an important commercial port of the country. The newArchaeological Museum of Patras, the church of Saint Andrew and the Fortress of Rio are some of the attractions visitors must see, while a strollalong the Rio-Antirio Bridge is a unique experience, along with participatingat Patras carnival cultural events. There are many points of interest in this region including the Vouraikos Canyon and the rack railway, the Monastery of Agia Lavra and the Monastery of Megalo Spileo (Big Cave), the Cave of the Lakes and the Museum of Sacrifice bythe People of Kalavryta. The main attraction in popular Kalavryta is the skiresort.

If you are interested in submitting any kind Erasmus+ KA1 project proposal, we support you in preparing and submitting the application to your National Agency.  We have developed a set of guidelines for the preparation of the KA1 e-form, which we provide with no additional fee.  All the activities andservices are fully covered by the grant received by Erasmus+ if the project is approved.

We are Flexible.

We act as receiving organization and accept students, teachers and staff any time of the year.  Courses are offered in corresponding target group format.  Each course is structured so that it ispossible to attend the basic level (20 hours in 6 days) or the advanced level(40 hours in 12 days).  Courses are offered starting from March to November.
